  • Strawberry Long Bob

Q&A with Style Creator Wendy Portillo
Hairstylist @ The Plaza Salon in Orange, CA

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This look is a simple long bob haircut with minimal layers. It’s great for all hair types and is pretty low maintenance. I recommend coming in every eight weeks to maintain the cut and six weeks for the color. I love the versatility that this cut gives you. It looks great straight, curly/wavy, or even pulled back into a loose style.

What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?

I used a medium barrel curling iron for styling. The products I used to achieve this look were Damage Control (heat protectant), Smooth Infusion Style Prep (humidity defense and shine), and Air Control Hair Spray (light hold). These are all Aveda products.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

My client’s hair color is her natural color. It’s a beautiful shade for most skin types. In a nutshell, this is a beautiful low maintenance color and cut for all hair types.

  • Warm Tones

Q&A with Style Creator Allie Leahy
Hairstylist @ Leigh Mason Salon in O’Fallon, MO

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This look is very fun and flirty! My favorite thing about this look is how warm and natural it feels. It seems like so many people who sit in my chair are obsessed with these silver/ash tones, which are gorgeous by the way, but they take so much work to achieve and maintain. This look is literally effortless for natural warm tones. I love being able to embrace a client’s own beauty in a world that is constantly pushing trends of colors outside that natural realm. Embrace your warm toned light fragments!

What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?

Personally, I always recommend Paul Mitchell products before any other line. Paul Mitchell is my absolute favorite line because there is literally something for every hair type. This particular look was completed using a Paul Mitchell Color XG and DPL balayage, as well as Paul Mitchell styling products to finish the look.

I did the blow out with Awaphui Styling Treatment Oil and emulsified with Fast Form (a soft blow dry cream). Then, I used a flat iron for soft diffused curls and sprayed it with Super Clean Extra, which is a medium hold hairspray. If anyone feels they are having trouble achieving the effortless/tousled curl look, I would consider the products being used both pre and post blow dry. Having a good variety of products is so important and really makes all the difference!

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

If you are looking for low maintenance, this particular color palette is ideal for those who fall into a naturally warm hair color base. The idea behind balayage is to keep your hair looking lived in, but polished. If you are considering balayage, it’s important to remember that the less you fight your raw natural beauty, the less maintenance you’ll need!

  • Strawberry Copper  Combo

Q&A with Style Creator Stacey Baxter
Master Stylist @ Maison de Cheveux in New Orleans, LA

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is a golden copper base with a brighter copper in the lowlights. The balayage highlights for the blonde are concentrated around her face and the top. For the haircut, I used my feather razor to give her long bob with some movement.

What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?

For styling these messy beach waves, I used R+Co’s Grid to protect against heat and help hold the style. I also used a spray of R+Co’s Foil for added shine and protection against humidity. I love L’Oréal Professional’s copper hues for the color. We used Redken Shades to gloss over her balayage.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I would recommend this hair color for anyone wanting a strawberry blonde tone in their hair! This is an especially great look on anyone with fair skin and pink undertones. The beauty of balayage is that it’s lower maintenance. My client will come in to get her roots retouched every six weeks, but the balayage will look great even as it grows out!

  • Strawberry Champagne

Q&A with Style Creator Aubrey Smith
Hairstylist @ Salon Bella Vi in Plymouth, MI

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would describe this look as a dimensional golden blonde with pink or rose gold accents. My favorite thing is that it’s a subtle way to rock a fashion color while still having a natural look.

What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?

I used Redken Flashlift and Redken City Beats with Olaplex to achieve this color. Olaplex is key when going lighter to keep the hair in good health. I recommend Olaplex Step 3 for a take home treatment, as well as Kevin Murphy Angel Wash and Rinse which gently cleanses the hair for maximum color retention.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

While getting there can be more or less difficult depending on your current color, this look will work for all hair types and skin tones! The balance of cooler pink tones and warm golden tones in the hair color make it universally flattering. This look does require regular maintenance, so book those salon visits to keep your hair looking its best!

  • Just a Hint of Strawberry Blonde

Q&A with Style Creator Nika Forsythe
Hairstylist – Hair by Nika @ Rebel Rebel Hair Salon in Oceanside, CA

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This look features ginger tones with hints of strawberry blonde that are reminiscent of the timeless beauty, Rita Hayworth. It’s one of my favorites because it integrates a vintage classic bob with a modern shadowed root.

What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?

As an artist with L’Oreal Professionnel, I would cleanse and condition with the Lumino Contrast from the Serie Expert line. It replenishes lost proteins without weighing the hair down. Hair is left to feel soft to the touch, and highlights are brilliantly accentuated with radiant shine. Next I would apply the Tecni Art Sleek and Swing Dual Styler to damp hair before blow drying. This will give natural movement and provide anti-humidity, anti-frizz and heat protection.

To finish the look I used Tecni Art Lumi Controle, a nourishing wax that gives flexible hold, definition, protects the color from sun damage, and adds shine. It creates an iridescent finish that will reflect light and emphasize the hues, while also taming flyaways. I would also recommend returning to the salon every six weeks for a glossing and cut.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I would recommend this style for women with fine to medium textured hair. This color compliments those with fair skin, much like Emma Roberts or Connie Britton. This versatile look can be worn by business professionals, busy moms, or young trend-setting fashionistas. This look also pairs perfectly with the rose gold and/or dusty rose fashion that is currently trending.

  • Dimensional

Q&A with Style Creator Lesley Mahla
Senior Stylist @ Studio & Co Salon in Baltimore, MD

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is a dimensional strawberry blonde with a few pops of pink. My favorite part of this look is the blend of the strawberry blonde with the subtle hints of pink! They just melt well together.

What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?

To reduce fading, I recommend only washing three to four times per week with a sulfate-free shampoo like J Beverly Hills Everyday shampoo and conditioner. Dry shampoo is a must on the days of not shampooing and my favorite is Moroccan Oil Dry shampoo.

When styling, dry hair with a little Moroccan Oil. Wave hair with a Babyliss Pro 1 1/4-inch curling iron, then softly brush the wave out with a flat brush and spray Moroccan Oil hairspray to set the hair

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This color suits fair to light/medium skin tones.

  • Sunkissed Strawberries

Q&A with Style Creator Christina Cupps
Hairstylist @ Tiffany’s Hair Spa in Clarksville, TN

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This is a strawberry blonde with pride or golden blonde balayage highlights for that more natural, sun-kissed appearance. My favorite thing about it is that it is more on the natural side of red. I feel like a lot of people think of red as like “the little mermaid hair” and they forget how beautiful a copper or strawberry can look.

What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?

For the color we used Kuene Color. For maintaining, I would definitely recommend ColorProof Moisture shampoo and conditioner. For styling we used the anti-frizz serum from ColorProof, as well as their anti-aging primer keep everything nice and soft. We curled it with a 1-inch curling iron, then used a texturizing fiber while running fingers through it to loosen up those curls for a soft and romantic finish.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I would recommend this look for someone with a yellow undertone in their skin because it brings out the warmth. This color will also make green eyes or blue eyes really pop! Someone with natural red undertones could be a little bit leery of this look, only because it might bring extra attention to those red tones.

  • Short and Sweet

This layered bob has a light copper hue that is complemented with flecks of blonde.

Best Skin Tone & Hair Type:

Lighter and cooler skin tones are fantastic for this warm color. They balance each other out instead of looking washed out. Fine to thick hair can pull off this classic hairstyle. Round and heart shaped faces are ideal, but add some bangs if you have a longer, oval shaped face.

    Tip(s):

Use your flat iron to really get that sleek finish.

  • Copper Kiss

Platinum blonde hair is highlighted with subtle ribbons of copper. Stunning!

Best Skin Tone & Hair Type:

If you have light skin and light colored eyes, then you are a great candidate for this hair color. Medium to thick hair is a must to wear your hair this long and the straighter your hair is naturally – the better. For extra fullness, keep the layers to a minimum and chisel them around the front only.

    Tip(s):

Adding a copper lowlight to your blonde strands is an awesome easy way to change up your look without making too big of a commitment.

  • Strawberry Diva

Cool blonde tones are jazzed up with soft copper chunks.

Best Skin Tone & Hair Type:

Don’t be afraid to spice up your look. This gorgeous copper and blonde swirl is great for girls with light to medium skin tones. Medium to thick hair is great for this layered haircut and it really helps if you have naturally wavy hair texture. Blow your hair out smooth and add some big curls on the end with an iron if you don’t.

    Tip(s):

Don’t underestimate the power of a fringe. Bangs can add much needed shape and interest to your look!

  • Dipped Strawberries

Deep roots blend into medium blonde strands and then right into soft red tips.

Best Skin Tone & Hair Type:

This multidimensional color makes it fabulous for medium skin tones and girls with darker eye colors and features. Thick hair is ideal for this curly/wavy bob. Naturally straight or curly haired texture can work if you feel confident in your curling iron skills. Use a 1¼-inch curling iron to create this particular look.

    Tip(s):

This ombré colored hairstyle is so on trend. Pastel colors are hot right now, too. Try the ombré while it’s still in fashion!

  • Wild Berry Copper

Soft, heavenly-like curls fall right at the shoulders in a stunning dark shade of copper. Light gold flecks take this color to the next level.

Best Skin Tone & Hair Type:

This deeper colored copper will compliment light to medium skin tones. Darker features and darker eye colors will also be complimented by this particular shade. Medium to thick, natural curls, styled with a diffuser on the ends is the way to achieve this style.

Tip(s): Investing in good hair products is worth it. Hydrated curls are less frizzy, more manageable and hold on to color longer.

  • Goldilocks

Here’s another amazing, ombré-inspired hair coloring effect. Soft blonde roots melt effortlessly into rich coppery ends.

Strawberry Blonde Goldilocks Long Side PonytailStrawberry Blonde Goldilocks Long Side Ponytail Front View

Best Skin Tone & Hair Type:

Light copper strands look best on paler skin tones since the warmer hair shade helps warm it up. Curl your hair with a large iron and then secure it into a side ponytail for a totally flirty look. Try this out if you have thick hair with minimal to no layers.

    Tip(s):

The less layers you add to your haircut, the more soft and sleek the overall texture will be.

Don’t box yourself into one all-over color. Spice things up with subtle ribbons or thick chunks of gold. Whether you choose to add a little copper or a lot to your light blonde strands, your strawberry blonde shade will be sure to turn heads.
